On February 9th, Able Freight team members participated in the 8th Annual, Home Run for Kids – 5K, in the Brentwood community of West Los Angeles. All proceeds from the event benefited Upward Bound House. The Home Run for Kids is a great opportunity for parents, kids, local businesses, schools and the community to come together to help solve family homelessness, a growing crisis across Los Angeles.
Check out https://upwardboundhouse.org/ for more information on how to get involved.
This is one of the various charities we actively support and participate with. We encourage everyone to expand their portfolio when it comes to giving back. Following the event, we asked each Able Freight employee who attended, “Why is it important to you to be involved in charitable organizations?”
Jose – Import Specialist
“For me it’s about giving back to those less fortunate, letting them know people (the community) are there to help, support in whatever they’re going through and that they’re not alone. Winston Churchill once said, ‘We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.’”
Juhyeon – Intern
“Because people, including me can’t live by oneself and alone. We live together and thereby make one society. Therefore, we must not ignore those who need help. I think charity is one of our responsibility.”
Kenny –Import Specialist
“It is important to support charitable organizations because it is remarkable to see the community come together as one and tackle issues. Having each other’s back and moving forward; something in which we are all familiar with here at Able.”
Maria – M-Team:
“It is important to remember that things are bigger than you in life, we are about a community. Helping each other is the big picture.”
Nadiyah – Tech & Innovation:
“Taking the time out of personal life, not taking things for granted, giving back to complete strangers really humbles yourself; it’s all about character. Happy to be involved with a company whose values align with mine.
Orlando – CEO, Owner
“It helps us to become responsible and understand the challenges that local citizens face, and work to improve the quality of life all around us."
Overall, giving back has a different meaning to everyone, but all revolve around a common theme. Giving back can provide you a better sense of the community, and opens the door to a new perspective of all that life has to offer. This happens through helping those in need, collectively contributing to improving the community with other members of society.
We encourage everyone to find the time to give back, whether it's through a charity or a random act of kindness, and share the wealth of community.
